Day tour to Isla Contoy with Isla Mujeres
The national park “Isla Contoy” is located in the municipality of Isla Mujeres, state of Quintana Roo, and it’s, in fact, the limit between the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean Sea.

Contoy Island is the perfect place for a birdwatching tour.
It was decreed in 1961, during the administration of Adolfo López Mateos, that Isla Contoy be designated as a natural park and refuge for the national fauna. Later on, in 1986, under a federal ordinance, it was designated a natural area to protect marine turtle species; also, due to its geographical position, “Contoy” is an ideal refuge for a large number of birds and marine turtles at risk of extinction.
Experience the fun of visiting three of the five islands of the Mexican Caribbean.
The adventure starts with a short tour around the island of Cancun, and then on to the picturesque port of Isla Mujeres, where you will have an opportunity to get a glimpse of the folklore of the place and have time for shopping in local crafts stores. From there, we will sail to a place that few have had the privilege to discover, Isla Contoy. This virgin island is barely 5.2 miles long and only 70 feet at its narrowest point. It is located about 45 minutes north of Isla Mujeres, at the beginning of the world’s second-largest coral reef chain. The beaches are shallow, clear, and calm, with an abundance of aquatic life that will thrill any snorkeler.
Isla Contoy is internationally recognized for its flora and fauna, especially the birds, of which more than 90 species are considered either resident or migratory.
This natural paradise is a quality tour, uniquely and exclusively for Cancun and those visiting the island aboard The Asterix vessels.
There is no more comfortable way to enjoy it. Because of federal environmental regulations, the number of people who can visit Contoy is limited.
